Reminiscence starts at the end… and the beginning. 2024 has come to an end and 2025 beckons us forward. I have always looked at the end of the year more as a circumstance than a true opportunity. Beginning a year on January 1 feels arbitrary when every day marks the passing of a year. But…
We finished the year strong with a Penn State football playoff win, deli sandwiches for dinner, a challenging game of Mind the Gap, and party hats. More importantly, we finished – and started – the year together.
Somebody turned 46 today, and it wasn’t me!
It doesn’t really feel like Christmas to me yet. Maybe since less than 24 hours ago it was still Thanksgiving.
Lazy day today. Highlights include: Running the wrong training program on the treadmill, knitting for hours, everyone but me playing Portal Knights, booking hotels for dance and a campsite for spring break, and writing one paragraph in the sermon I may never deliver but feel compelled to write anyway. It hasn’t been the most exciting…
I finally got to use the gift certificate Rosina gave me for my birthday. We did some paint pouring! Robin and Christina were less than thrilled about going, but there’s something about splashing paint around that lifts one’s spirits. They’ll never admit it, but they had fun.
We finally managed to get out to get Robin the ice cream she earned from that epic practice over a week ago. Between our trip to New York and Robin’s strep throat, we just couldn’t make it happen. But it was worth the wait. She even recovered when I told her she has a practice…
We took a family pasta making class at the Y and made about 10 pounds of pasta. Not that any of it went to waste. The dogs enjoyed eating the small amount of dough that was too sticky to use. I also made two more ornaments for the advent calendar, which looks like it might…
I managed to drag myself to work today, and rewarded myself with family night at the pool and a nice dinner out at Olive Garden afterwards. I love family time, especially when no one is fighting, like tonight. I am determined to make the most of this summer.
We have a cute AirBnB in South Carolina for the next few days, right on a little river. Looking forward to exploring the next few days.
A day late, but we went out to celebrate Robin’s first back handspring ever! And we capped off the evening with a couple games of Sushi Go – and I both lost miserably and won a game. I also had an awesome lunch with friends from chorus – so all in all a pretty good…
We had a really great day that ended with 30 minutes of yuck that kind of tainted it. Got a lot done – cleaned up the house, weeded the garden, went to the Game Haus and played Sorry and Scattergories, got ice cream, went food shopping, and had tacos for dinner in front of the…
We have all the number candles except 3 and 5, and our 4 has been used so much, it no longer has any wick left, so we had to improvise. We put a zero in there for good luck. Hopefully Billy had a good birthday.
I didn’t even bother editing this photo. It’s the only one I took and it’s terrible. We went out to a new restaurant. It was good but overpriced, I thought. The food was good, but I’d have expected more ambiance and more of an experience for the price. At least I got out of the…
