We went to an escape room today and we missed it by about THREE MINUTES. We had even figured out the clue but just kept typing in the answer wrong. We are so bummed! We did a lot better than the last time, and honestly that made it more fun. It also helped that we didn’t have to share the game with people we didn’t know. I so want to go and do another one and manage to escape. We were just so close! It was a good time and nice to go out and do something together. We’ll have to go again.

I thought I finished digging out the patio this morning, but YouTube says I need to dig another six inches around the whole perimeter. Looks like one more week before I get to play with the compactor. Robin went to the mall with her friend Alejandro and Christina and I painted pottery while they wandered around getting lost in Belk. I thought this was a buffalo, Siggi thought it was a yak, Christina says it’s a cow. It’s a yakowalo.

Today was a busy day! I went for a 30-minute run and then Christina and I went paddleboarding. There was just enough breeze to blow us around and cause enough current to be annoying. I drifted into the grass once, but it was ok. After that, the four of us went to Salento for lunch, and that was delicious. It was Robin’s suggestion. I ate my entire enormous plate of food and really could have eaten more. Where is it going? Then I drove up to Savannah to meet Siggi for a girls weekend! We had a rooftop dinner and walked a little along the river. It’s nice here without kids.

I have been so exhausted these last couple days, thanks to my medication being out of stock yet once again. It is literally tiresome how often this happens, and the utter devastation I go through with withdrawal when I don’t have it. No one cares. Certainly not the pharmacy. I powered through anyway, and some energy came back around lunchtime. I made flat, pathetic pancakes for dinner. They were just sad. I need a better pancake recipe. But… there were none left over, so they couldn’t have been that bad. And so goes another Monday.

Christina had a dance competition today. It was a very long day – we left home at 12:45 and got home at 9:45, with no time for lunch or dinner. Christina looked great, though! It was the last time she’ll perform her trio. Big smiles on their faces! They won a judge’s choice award for electric energy, and they deserved it. That’s impressive after being there for nine hours. Proud of our girl!

Today was just annoying. Idiotic things got to me and I got a headache. I took a short nap and it went away, but now I’m just exhausted and all I want is ice cream and beer. I settled for two Starbursts and pajamas. I can’t wait to go to bed.

The kids had a half day today, so Robin and I went to Leaderboard and played video games for a while before getting ready for tonight’s middle school dance. Looking at these two tonight, I really have to wonder what the heck happened to my babies?? At this point I have no chance of surviving prom. They had a great time and I’m glad.

Made it back to Jacksonville. We hit next to no traffic until we hit Jacksonville city limits, and then it was traffic the rest of the way home. Welcome home. We got pizza from Renna’s and it was delicious. Christina isn’t feeling well. Some kind of stomach issue. I wish we could help her, but I feel like these digestive things just have to run their course. Poor kid.

Pretty decent drive from NJ to VA today. There were a couple spots with traffic, but nothing more than a few minutes and otherwise traffic was very light. I hope tomorrow is just as easy, but I take nothing for granted. We got to the hotel pretty early, around 3:15. I spent some time telling ChatGPT how disappointed I was with it (for some reason this felt necessary), did some crossword puzzles. Then we went to the Subway at the gas station for dinner, bought some snacks, played some Uno, called Billy. Now I’ve showered, watching some basketball, and pretty soon I’ll be off to sleep. I’m hoping to get an early start tomorrow. Arriving early enough to have time to relax before crashing is nice. Fingers crossed for another easy day. We’ll see. I’m ready for anything. Kind of.

We had a nice day living the life at Aunt Cathrine and Uncle Bob’s senior living facility. It’s like living on a giant cruise ship. The place has everything imaginable. Today’s highlights included visiting the facility thrift shop, going to the pool, playing Uno, and having a fancy St. Patrick’s Day dinner in the dining room. They seem so absolutely happy here, and honestly, who could blame them? It has been so good to spend some time with them. I’m glad we made the trip.

Day two of dance was so unbearably long. We got there at 10:30 in the morning and Christina’s performance was at 12:30. Awards weren’t until 4:30, and they lasted an hour, so we were there for seven hours. I was good until about 3:15 or so, and then the walls started to crush me. Christina did ok – her dance came in third out of five in the category. It was a tough weekend with a lot of very good dancers to go up against. But the studio did win the sportsmanship award for the weekend, which in my opinion is worth more than any other of the awards they could get. Christina seemed in good spirits, so that’s what matters to me.

Christina had a short competition where only her trio performed. They did so great! They earned a platinum award, first place overall, and a judges showmanship award. I’m so proud of them, even though it was an insanely long day. Definitely worth the long wait!

I had about six or seven minutes of blissful clarity in little 30-second bursts over the course of the day. There may be hope for me yet!

We scratched off another card and took a kayaking tour on the river near Rock Springs in Apopka. It was beautiful! The kids were not interested in the least, although Robin did say on the way back that it was peaceful, which I think was positive. Our tour guide, Nigel, was great. I feel like I’ve been paddling enough times at this point that I should be better at steering, but apparently not. I’m glad we had the day free to do it and that the weather was so perfect.

We decided on a whim to go to Toothsome Chocolate Factory at Universal City Walk for lunch, and it was pretty good. A little too much sweet for me, but that was my own fault for ordering dessert for breakfast and then dessert after that. Christina’s trio did ok… she felt really good about it, but it didn’t place well. She always manages to stay positive anyway, which I so appreciate about her. Day one in the books!
