Pinot is available to assist in picking up any Doritos that may happen to fall.

Someone on my team at work had the idea to get everyone together to share summer vacation photos, so I set up a WebEx for Friday. And because I can’t ever stop at simple, I decided to buy these cute tiki glasses, leis, straws, and summer cocktail mixers to send to everyone on the team. Now I have to go to the Post Office.

This dove took me half a day to make because apparently I suck at embroidery. I had to make six or seven wings before I finally got these two. I didn’t hate the effort, but it did take forever. Nine ornaments left to do and two months to do it.

Last night’s storm was pretty significant. It’s the most wind we’ve had since Matthew, I think. The wind kept me up most of the night. There is so much debris in our yard and a tree fell on the neighbor’s fence so we can’t let the dogs out on their own. Otherwise no real damage. I’m very glad we got the trees taken care of on Wednesday. I think it might have been a very different story if we hadn’t. Our across the street neighbors had a tree fall on their house, not more than two weeks after they sold it. I can only imagine what they are going through. All in all, though, no one was hurt, very little flooding, and we are only left with inconveniences. Could have been much worse.

This is one of those rare times that someone said a storm is coming and it actually came. It’s very windy right now. And if it’s like this here, I can only imagine what it’s like in Tallahassee. I’m very glad we had our tree work done yesterday.

My windows are filthy, but our trees are no longer hanging on top of the roof! These guys showed up one minute after my alarm went off at 7:15 and were gone by 9:30. They trimmed three trees and removed one. Our yard is a mess, but I’m relieved to have it done. It feels like there is so much still to do, like I dunno, wash the windows? And of course now we need to clean the gutters. Twice in one year? I can’t remember ever cleaning the gutters twice in the same year. Honestly I’m not even sure we ever cleaned the gutters twice ever. Not bad, Caitlin. Not bad.

I wasn’t seen for my 11:15 doctor’s appointment until 12:45, at which point she told me that the abnormal test results she’d made me come in to discuss were a false positive and not a concern. And yet she ordered an additional test anyway, just to complete the irritating circumstance. I like her a lot, so I can forgive her, but gahd, so annoyed!

Today was an endless marathon of activity. Drop off kids at school, physical therapy at gym, treadmill “run,” doing dishes, work, cleaners came, pick up kids from school, drive Christina to dance, drive Robin to cheer, make dinner, pick up Christina from dance, pick up Robin from cheer. Typical Monday.

It was a busy day – church, cheer, food shopping, cooking… I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 11pm still needing to take a picture. So here we have a shoehorn. You’re welcome.

I had the most productive weekend morning that I can remember in a LONG time. Before noon, I got dressed, went to the gym for physical therapy, got coffee, did the dishes, and weeded both gardens. The garden was barely perceptible in the top photo. I wish it actually looked pretty after weeding, but the rose is overgrown, the wisteria doesn’t flower, the calla lily is drooping, and there is an awful lot of bare dirt. I do not have my parents’ green thumb. Maybe I will try to plant some mums for fall, but I think probably the garden doesn’t get enough sun for them to last long. I will not stop trying! At least these little white flowers, whatever they are, are hanging in!

Friday… my easy day, when I only have to take one kid to two dance classes and that’s it. I learned that my bacon burger and fries at Chili’s last night was 50 Weight Watchers points. Worth every point. And I spent three hours conquering Excel for no good reason other than in my heart, I needed the win. I’m happy it’s not raining.

My brain is mush. My job is literally to find mistakes, which sounds fine until you realize you also have to fix the mistakes and make people accountable for them. Oh, and fix the underlying root issue that caused the mistake. Which becomes demoralizing when you fix the root cause only for someone to come along and break it (or something else) again behind you.

Just as I do for dear Pinot, I spend my days at work cleaning up turds. I appreciate the importance of it, but I’m exhausted. I need another day at the beach.

The clouds have finally passed on and we are treated to a(n almost) full moon. First time in two weeks that we’ve seen sun.

No sun yet, but here’s our rainbow! We could see the moon tonight, so who knows what tomorrow will bring?
