It was a long, busy day. Christina had a dance competition this morning, and her team swept their level, taking home at least three top prizes. They looked absolutely amazing. And then, although I really, really didn’t want to, I ran the Wine and Chocolate 5k. I was 9 seconds off my time for the last race, and about a minute and a half off the Santa race in December. Considering how little I wanted to run, and how often I stopped to walk, it’s a pretty good finishing time. With walking, I averaged about a 12:45 pace, which is about what I do on the treadmill. The weather was perfect, although my sunglasses kept falling off my face, and that was annoying. And there was wine at the end!

April 1
Today was a long, rough day. I had a pretty nasty headache and left work early, but still had to teach the NAMI course tonight. Headache’s gone but now it’s somehow 11pm and I feel like I’ve done very little for myself all day. I did read a little, and did a crossword puzzle. Everything feels chaotic right now. Literally everything. But I said no twice today and that is a big step for me.

December 31
We finished the year strong with a Penn State football playoff win, deli sandwiches for dinner, a challenging game of Mind the Gap, and party hats. More importantly, we finished – and started – the year together.

The kids looked through some of the jewelry Mom made and picked out a few things to keep tonight. I wish Mom had been the one to give it to them herself. I think it would have made her so happy.

September 9
Came awfully close to missing a day. It was a day worth forgetting. Annoying things happened at work that made me cry, we got a $4,000 estimate for the tree work we need (on which we are about $4,000 short), we were chided for pick-up procedures at school that I thought I was doing correctly and will lead to a dance class conflict every week, and Robin’s team and coaches were all extremely frustrated at last night’s practice. All of these things would normally roll off my shoulders, but for whatever reason, it all got to me. Good news today, though, was that Billy was hired as a personal trainer at the gym! It pays less, but he has more (and better) hours, and he is working toward doing something he actually loves. One of us had to have a good day. Might as well be him.
