Eating outside on the patio is always special and worth the effort. As is asparagus. Besides a nice dinner, Christina went to a birthday party, I went food shopping, I sewed until I ran out of thread, Robin had a cheer practice, and we played Uno. Not a bad day.

My days kind of slip by before I know what’s happened. Suddenly it’s 10:30pm and I don’t know what I’ve accomplished. I want to do more things I enjoy, but I don’t know what to put aside to make it happen. So we have strawberries on a Wednesday evening.

It’s another cheer weekend and this weekend we’re in West Palm Beach. Billy stayed home, so it’ll be a girls weekend for us. So far we’re living it up with calzones and Hershey bars. Doesn’t get better than this, folks.

Robin made these beautiful cupcakes from scratch for tomorrow’s dinner, including the chocolate leaf decorations. They taste great, too. I’ll definitely visit her bakery.

It was really just another day. I got some very nice compliments about the service I put together last Sunday and that felt good. It felt almost as good as doing the service in the first place. I’m very glad it was meaningful to other people too.

It wasn’t a great day. I ruined four other people’s days and man, that’s one more than a trifecta.

It was an incredibly stressful day in a pile of stressful days, so I gathered up some gift cards and we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I always think alcohol will take the edge off a bad day, but it turns out chocolate cheesecake is the real answer. I’ll have to keep that…

It was another long day. I spent 40 minutes making this delicious rice and beans that normally everyone loves for dinner and then no one ate it. Christina wouldn’t speak to me for two hours, saying she hates me, because I wouldn’t set up a phone line for her. I love doing things for the…

Today was the Festival of Courage at school. Robin has aged out of the performances, but Christina played xylophone for her grade’s musical performance. This is the seventh year we’ve celebrated the Festival of Courage and it’s just another reason to love their school. Plus there were live dragons involved.

Robin went to a sleepover yesterday, so I tried to give Christina a sleepover experience by making her waffles. The rest of the day was fairly unexciting. I did some measuring and marking for my advent calendar. Now I just need to assemble it. Haha, “just.” I also finished knitting Siggi’s scarf. I’m going to…

Today I pissed Robin off because I refused to talk to her until she stopped screaming at me. She got so angry that she slammed her door in my face and threw a sneaker at the door as hard as she could for good measure. I guess sometimes you just can’t be calm or reasonable,…

I didn’t get to have my birthday martini on my birthday, so we went out tonight and celebrated my mom on the anniversary of the day she died. A martini costs the same as a two-course entree and soft drink. The days have been getting away from me, but it’s important for me to remember.…

Robin made this amazing cake for us. It was a challenging recipe and it took almost the whole day to make, but she did it herself with minimal supervision. It was incredibly delicious. Didn’t look as perfect as the picture in the book, but pretty close! She loves to bake and I was so happy…

I’ve got a couple Maine beers left to help keep me there just a little longer. But it’s back to dance class and food shopping and cooking for myself. Vacation is always better than real life.

Not exactly the best vacation photo. We made an unexpected stop in Bangor to stay in a hotel so as to avoid the inch of rain expected tonight. It has been raining steadily all day and I just can’t imagine setting up a tent and feeding ourselves and sleeping all night outside in the rain.…
