I love the iPhone night goggles… what amazing detail in the night shots!
Today was a lot of putting one foot in front of the other, trying to get stuff done instead of putting it off, with approximately a 72% success rate.
I finally got a little bit out of my routine. I walked to school to pick up the kids, and I took Christina to buy sneakers, she having been told that the boots we just bought her wouldn’t cut it for gym. I don’t know if it helped much, but I guess it’s a step.
I didn’t realize how addicted to the iPads the girls have become. They literally don’t know what to do with themselves without it and will do almost anything for a fix. Withdrawal is real – when I cut them off, they immediately started fighting – truly hurtful things were said. I did at least set…
Today we went for a short hike up Black Balsam Bald. We watched a storm rolling in toward us for the whole hike and ALMOST made it back to the car without getting caught in it. What is a hike up a mountain without getting caught in the rain?
The weather has been wild lately. This morning Billy hydroplaned right off the highway during a rainstorm. Luckily he didn’t hit anything and no one got hurt, but there was enough damage to the car that it had to be towed to a nearby garage. While he was on the phone with AAA for a…
Drove into this storm to spend over $600 getting the dogs their annual shots and tags. I brought the kids to “help,” which was pretty dumb. The lights went out just as Jackson was getting his second shot, and no one freaked out. Also, this was the first time he did not need to be…
It was a busy day. Robin had her fifth grade graduation in the morning, then had her first cheerleading practice at the new gym, and then I met some chorus friends for wine, cheese, and a river sunset. All very nice. Robin loves her new gym. She said she learned more today than she learned…
More yard work today, followed by a walk to the playground with the girls and dogs. Now cooking dinner and annoyed because a) the grill started up, but by the time I got out with the chicken, it had gone out due to an empty propane tank, b) in going with plan B of baking…
I married Billy 15 years ago today. It has been a long road filled with babies and tremendous loss and suicide and baseball. And, ok, travel and amusement parks and homemade pasta. There have been times I didn’t think we’d see another anniversary, but here we are, celebrating 15 years for better or worse. And…
Robin finished her state report project today. If I were her teacher, I’d give her a B. Personally, I wouldn’t be satisfied with a B, but Robin seems content with it. Christina, on the other hand, decided she wants to do her own state report. So we went to the library and took out a…
The kids had the day off from school, so at the last minute I decided to take the day off too. I took the kids to get sandwiches and we went to Walter Jones Park, where we played card games while squirrels tried their best to see what food we might have for them. Then…
