I don’t know how Christina saw this rainbow. It was straight up in the air. Right after this, we got ice cream while Robin was at a cheer party. She had a lot of fun, which just makes me feel so good.

December 9
I went out to the garage to take Robin to cheer and it looked like the sky was on fire. Also today, I dropped Christina off for dance and left to pick up Pinot from the groomer, but got all the way to the library to drop off books before I remembered that what I actually wanted to do was pick up the dog. At least I did remember.

It was a perfect day for Robin’s Tampa showcase. I forgot how chaotic it is, though. She had a couple drops that left her feeling upset, but Billy reminded her that it’s how you recover from it that matters. That perked her up. I appreciate that he was also in a competitive sport and is a coach because he has a perspective on losing that I don’t have, and it’s a valuable one. Every competitor loses sometimes. He gets how it feels and knows how to show up next time. I want them to connect in that way. I was glad they did. And also there was fried ravioli.

The kids learned what a VCR is today. It took a few minutes, but they also figured out how to tune my clock radio, which my dad gave me in 1990, to their favorite station. Kids are so entertaining.

November 11
The sky was so much prettier about five minutes before I took this photo, but I was stuck driving and couldn’t get a shot of it. Seems to be the way it goes in the life of a taxi driver.

All day long I thought it was Monday. It’s definitely better thinking it’s Monday when it’s actually Friday than it is thinking it’s Friday when it’s actually Monday!

October 16
I so wanted to stop and get a proper shot of this beautiful moonrise, but there was nowhere to pull over. I had to settle for this red-light photo instead. It was really beautiful. Dang the endless driving – although I’ll admit that without it, I’d have missed this view altogether. I guess sometimes you take what you can get. And I’m grateful for it.

Coming home from dance class, I pumped the Debbie Gibson from my open windows and completely and unabashedly owned it. Christina is a good sport.

Something about hurricane preparations really bugs me when we’re not even in the path of the storm and everyone hunkers down as though we are. Hoping people who ARE in the path of the storm are doing ok tonight.

September 27
Last night’s storm was pretty significant. It’s the most wind we’ve had since Matthew, I think. The wind kept me up most of the night. There is so much debris in our yard and a tree fell on the neighbor’s fence so we can’t let the dogs out on their own. Otherwise no real damage. I’m very glad we got the trees taken care of on Wednesday. I think it might have been a very different story if we hadn’t. Our across the street neighbors had a tree fall on their house, not more than two weeks after they sold it. I can only imagine what they are going through. All in all, though, no one was hurt, very little flooding, and we are only left with inconveniences. Could have been much worse.

September 26
This is one of those rare times that someone said a storm is coming and it actually came. It’s very windy right now. And if it’s like this here, I can only imagine what it’s like in Tallahassee. I’m very glad we had our tree work done yesterday.

September 17
The clouds have finally passed on and we are treated to a(n almost) full moon. First time in two weeks that we’ve seen sun.
