    Robin’s team did great at today’s cheer competition! They came a long way, even in the last two weeks. We have to keep that energy going into day two! Also, next time, must remember to take off the mascara before going swimming.

    I managed to drag myself to work today, and rewarded myself with family night at the pool and a nice dinner out at Olive Garden afterwards. I love family time, especially when no one is fighting, like tonight. I am determined to make the most of this summer.

    It was a pretty good day. I’m definitely digging the pool time. A highlight was homemade meatball heroes in front of the TV and angel food cake with Cool Whip and strawberries for dessert. It’s pretty amazing what good food can do for the soul.

    Today was an emotional day of birthday pool parties. The first one had an abrupt end accompanied by tears – both mine and Robin’s – and the second involved actual swimming, delicious cheeseburgers, and chocolate cake. Happy birthday Sydney and Rosina!

    Days like today are why I live in Florida. Sitting by the pool on February 3 is just what this girl needs. We sat by the pool and Christina swam for almost five hours. It was kind of perfect.

    There was some kind of soccer tournament going on near the hotel. There were at least 75 kids running around the lobby and the pool after dinner while their 125 parents drank beer and wine and largely ignored them. The noise! The chaos!     Trying to make more of an effort to do fun things. The pool was nearly empty and it was definitely cooler today than it was last week, but we had fun anyway. There was only minimal fighting over goggles.

    We are ready for cheer competition weekend! The girls have lost three team members in the last two weeks, so they’ve had to redo their whole routine at the last minute. We’ll see what this means for them, but there are four teams in their category, so they’ll at least place fourth!
