I took Christina out for ice cream tonight to thank her for cleaning out my car without even being asked. It was nice getting to spend some one on one time with her, even if it was just 20 minutes. The rest of the day was a marathon. They’re all marathons. I just can’t seem to keep up.

Mondays and Wednesdays are marathons. At least today was fairly productive. Got some bills paid and some papers off my desk. Such a small thing, but a huge weight lifted because it’s been sitting undone for weeks. Now, at last, bed.

We celebrated Robin’s birthday with Colleen & Co. today. It involved Uno Attack, pizza, and eye-rolling over the Jaguars. I also went to the gym and worked out with the girls, which makes it so much more fun. And we finally got the fire pit out again after having the trees taken care of, so I’m enjoying that tonight, too. Somehow, though, the weekends never quite seem enough.

It was a slow day filled with doing practically nothing. But Jackson came and posed for me with his Albert Einstein eyebrows. So precious.

Had a nice team event at work and got to see Christina’s play in the Festival of Courage. This will be our last one! The check-out procedure afterwards was a disaster and I felt so horrible for Ms. LaTanya, who was getting reamed out by multiple parents, as though she wasn’t sitting up front all by herself, surrounded by a mob or parents trying to pick up their children. She was literally in tears and parents were still yelling at her. How rude and inconsiderate do you have to be? I was angry and wanted so much to give her a hug. I hope that guy is happy with himself.

Pinot is available to assist in picking up any Doritos that may happen to fall.

My boy doesn’t like storms, and it stormed all day today. It stormed this morning before we woke up, and a branch from the tree my neighbor warned me about fell through the roof of her pergola. It absolutely destroyed me. I cried for half an hour. I couldn’t even bring myself to go over there. Billy went for me. And they didn’t even want to fix the pergola. Apparently it was already broken. I am relieved, but a little broken. I didn’t like the way she rubbed it in my face for no reason. I literally hated myself to the point of self destruction. She doesn’t know me, she wouldn’t understand, and I wouldn’t even try to explain it. But I’m glad now all we have to do is find the money to trim our trees. And take down a dead one. That’s cheaper than doing that AND repairing damage to my neighbor’s property. Even if they did lay shame on me for no reason.

Someone told me today that I’m doing good parenting. Some days it feels more like it than others. Today was one of the better days.

I had a good talk with Robin (well, to Robin, because she never really said anything other than a barely perceptible nod or shake of the head). I don’t know if it helped her, but I felt better knowing I’d gotten my point across. Now she can make her own decisions and understand exactly where she stands either way. And at practice, I saw her do three back handsprings with a spot. When she had to do one solo, she suddenly had to tie her shoes, but every little bit counts. Maybe this is not the end.

Sleepy dog, sleepy mom. Robin has strep. I think I can sleep for a month.

After Robin’s epic practice last night, I felt inspired to get my ass on the treadmill for the first time in almost a year and a half. My entire being hurts. I guess this is a good thing?

Homage to the dog who doesn’t get nearly enough attention but honestly would rather not so thanks anyway.

Christina has been having trouble sleeping, so came out to the living room to sleep. Pinot didn’t mind.

Finally made it home and now it’s back to the usual. For a day or two, anyway.

The best part of my day was when Robin joined us to play the Harry Potter game after dinner. Maybe one of these days I won’t even have to bribe her to join us.
