Busy day. I led the church worship service, which went pretty well. I got a lot of compliments, which always feels good. Then off to teach the NAMI class, which also went pretty well too. But it all exhausted me. I could barely keep my eyes open by the end of the day. I guess it’s all for a good cause.

Somehow I missed uploading this one. Oops. Took the kids to St. Augustine and poked around the shops on St. George St. It was more fun than staying home, anyway.

Robin is showing interest in drawing, and I’m trying to inspire her without discouraging her. She tried to copy a photo of Albert Einstein, which actually came out pretty well, given how much actual drawing she’s done. My genuine favorite, though, is the hand she drew, which is in the lower center of the photo. It looks nothing like a hand, but I can see that she drew it as she saw it, not as she thought it should be. And that is one of the key fundamentals of good drawing. I hope she sticks with it. It’s a good outlet.

Robin finished this pirate ship the other day and it is really cool! This is a 3 in 1 set, so we’ll enjoy it for a few more days and then break it down to build the next one. We’ll see how that goes without the pieces being organized for us!

This dog gets petted so much, and it still isn’t enough.

September 11
Having two kids doing two completely different things in two completely different places at the exact same time is pretty stressful. Add some thunderstorms and it becomes a bit of a cluster. Somehow everyone got where they were going and back again and I even got a little sky porn at the end of the day.

September 10
It was a day of running around. Robin wanted to go to the mall with her friends, but then when we got there, she felt left out, which kind of ruined it for her, especially since she’d really been excited about it. I got home with about 15 minutes to have lunch before going out to teach my NAMI class, and I spilled my entire bottle of Diet Coke, which did nothing for my mood. But Robin and I had Legos at the end of the day, and man, that was good.

September 9
Today was a day for blowout Penn State football, Legos, an enormous cold cut sandwich that would bring tears to Heathcliff Huxtable’s eyes, and a walk to the neighborhood playground. Now it’s 8pm and I have to prepare for the wild party we’re throwing with our zero friends.

He may look innocent, but this ball of fluff dug a hole under our fence into the neighbor’s yard, which we discovered just as we were leaving for school. We could hear him, but couldn’t see him. We came back to the house to find treats to lure him back but as we got to the door, he was trotting in behind us, looking so proud of himself, covered in dirt from head to toe. One of these days he’s going to dig into the yard with the two dogs that want to eat him alive. Cute won’t save you every time, dude.

I’ve heard the newer iPhones take better night photos, and based on this, I’d agree. It’s not the best shot I’ve ever taken, but the image quality is probably even better than my (now decrepitly ancient) DSLR. I guess sometimes it pays to upgrade.

September 6
My new phone finally arrived and this is the dumb photo I managed to take with it. It took me hours and hours to set everything up and I just never had a chance to properly play. Still, I like that you can use the portrait mode on selfies now. I’ll have to play around with it some more.

I’ve come a long way from the person who held the Lombardi trophy but didn’t even know what a bye week was. First game of the middle school football season and Bolles kicked it off with a win. I didn’t even need the announcer to know what was happening.

September 4
Robin went to a sleepover yesterday, so I tried to give Christina a sleepover experience by making her waffles. The rest of the day was fairly unexciting. I did some measuring and marking for my advent calendar. Now I just need to assemble it. Haha, “just.” I also finished knitting Siggi’s scarf. I’m going to need some new projects.

September 3
Another 11:55pm shot just to get one in. It was a busy day. Church, then I broke our one-year-old dishwasher. That kind of ruined my day, and then there was my NAMI class, driving Robin to her friend’s house, and a 7:30pm dinner. Almost no time to breathe. So this is the shot we got.
