It was a pretty quiet day, which was welcome. Christina’s and my new paddleboards arrived today and I officially put in for a day off next week to go out with her. I finished my latest knitting project, which means I officially have nothing in the works at all. I’m even almost done with my crosswords, too, just half a puzzle left. What am I going to do with myself for the rest of my life??

March 17
We arrived in New Orleans with enough time to have a nice dinner and take in a rooftop sunset by the pool. All we know for sure that we’re doing tomorrow is having beignets. Anything on top of that is a bonus.

February 16
I had all the intentions of doing something at least somewhat memorable this weekend, but it has not come to pass. I spent most of the day making an ornament for our advent calendar. We did leave the house once to go out for ice cream, but that’s it. We ended up playing Trivial Pursuit, which Billy won with the easiest question in the whole box. It could have been a worse day for sure, but it was still a bit disappointing. Tomorrow should be better.

It’s been a nice day that has involved no octopuses. If only it also involved no errors in judgment. C’est la vie.

Robin had her last cheer practice before this weekend’s competition in New Orleans and they hit it in one shot. We cheered on Cobalt, the level 3 team, who was struggling a bit more. Even though they struggled, the support and cheering on in that room was tangible. I’m excited to see what happens this weekend, even if it’s not totally the outcome we want. So proud of these kids, all of them. Especially mine.

December 9
I went out to the garage to take Robin to cheer and it looked like the sky was on fire. Also today, I dropped Christina off for dance and left to pick up Pinot from the groomer, but got all the way to the library to drop off books before I remembered that what I actually wanted to do was pick up the dog. At least I did remember.

October 16
I so wanted to stop and get a proper shot of this beautiful moonrise, but there was nowhere to pull over. I had to settle for this red-light photo instead. It was really beautiful. Dang the endless driving – although I’ll admit that without it, I’d have missed this view altogether. I guess sometimes you take what you can get. And I’m grateful for it.

September 27
Last night’s storm was pretty significant. It’s the most wind we’ve had since Matthew, I think. The wind kept me up most of the night. There is so much debris in our yard and a tree fell on the neighbor’s fence so we can’t let the dogs out on their own. Otherwise no real damage. I’m very glad we got the trees taken care of on Wednesday. I think it might have been a very different story if we hadn’t. Our across the street neighbors had a tree fall on their house, not more than two weeks after they sold it. I can only imagine what they are going through. All in all, though, no one was hurt, very little flooding, and we are only left with inconveniences. Could have been much worse.

July 18
It was stormy today, which is just my kind of day. Lots of thunder, which excited me, but deeply agitated Jackson. Poor boy.

November 27
Pinot FINALLY got a haircut today. What a relief for everyone. He hates the car but loves the sunset.

September 11
Having two kids doing two completely different things in two completely different places at the exact same time is pretty stressful. Add some thunderstorms and it becomes a bit of a cluster. Somehow everyone got where they were going and back again and I even got a little sky porn at the end of the day.

Today was a day for blowout Penn State football, Legos, an enormous cold cut sandwich that would bring tears to Heathcliff Huxtable’s eyes, and a walk to the neighborhood playground. Now it’s 8pm and I have to prepare for the wild party we’re throwing with our zero friends.
