We took a family pasta making class at the Y and made about 10 pounds of pasta. Not that any of it went to waste. The dogs enjoyed eating the small amount of dough that was too sticky to use. I also made two more ornaments for the advent calendar, which looks like it might not be finished in time for this Christmas either. But it is getting closer.

July 31
This summer is flying by with very little time to enjoy it. I feel like I am just jumping one hurdle after another without ever taking a break. It’s not that I’m not having fun as much as that I’m having fun without having the chance to acknowledge that I’m enjoying it. If this is what summer is like, I can only imagine what I’m in for once school starts. Dang.

June 18
Christina came into my office saying her ramen got burnt. I asked if she put in enough water and her hand went straight to her forehead. Came into the kitchen to find this. The photograph does not capture the SMELL.

June 11
It is disgustingly humid outside tonight, but I need to do something to try to turn this day around, even if it is 9:42pm. Fresh air never did me wrong. Beer and baseball don’t hurt, either.

Nothing seemed to go right today. All week long I’ve been looking forward to reverse tie dyeing this weekend. I put undiluted bleach on my black shirt for 20 minutes and it didn’t fade even a little bit. I guess it’s because it’s not cotton. Then we installed a new Ring doorbell, and it worked great for about an hour, went offline, and then several hours later started ringing on its own. We’ve tried tightening all the connections and it hasn’t helped. I feel inept. But I watched a Corona commercial on TV yesterday and it worked. I even remembered to buy limes. It really is refreshing. Doesn’t quite make up for all the day’s failures, but at least it’s something.

April 7
Eating outside on the patio is always special and worth the effort. As is asparagus. Besides a nice dinner, Christina went to a birthday party, I went food shopping, I sewed until I ran out of thread, Robin had a cheer practice, and we played Uno. Not a bad day.

March 6
My days kind of slip by before I know what’s happened. Suddenly it’s 10:30pm and I don’t know what I’ve accomplished. I want to do more things I enjoy, but I don’t know what to put aside to make it happen. So we have strawberries on a Wednesday evening.

February 23
It’s another cheer weekend and this weekend we’re in West Palm Beach. Billy stayed home, so it’ll be a girls weekend for us. So far we’re living it up with calzones and Hershey bars. Doesn’t get better than this, folks.

Robin made these beautiful cupcakes from scratch for tomorrow’s dinner, including the chocolate leaf decorations. They taste great, too. I’ll definitely visit her bakery.

November 2
It was really just another day. I got some very nice compliments about the service I put together last Sunday and that felt good. It felt almost as good as doing the service in the first place. I’m very glad it was meaningful to other people too.

November 1
It wasn’t a great day. I ruined four other people’s days and man, that’s one more than a trifecta.

October 24
It was an incredibly stressful day in a pile of stressful days, so I gathered up some gift cards and we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I always think alcohol will take the edge off a bad day, but it turns out chocolate cheesecake is the real answer. I’ll have to keep that in mind.

October 5
It was another long day. I spent 40 minutes making this delicious rice and beans that normally everyone loves for dinner and then no one ate it. Christina wouldn’t speak to me for two hours, saying she hates me, because I wouldn’t set up a phone line for her. I love doing things for the people I love, but I do sometimes wish they’d respond with a thank you instead of demands for more.

September 22
Today was the Festival of Courage at school. Robin has aged out of the performances, but Christina played xylophone for her grade’s musical performance. This is the seventh year we’ve celebrated the Festival of Courage and it’s just another reason to love their school. Plus there were live dragons involved.
