It was a pretty typical day, with the bonus of talking to a friend I don’t talk to enough. I laughed a lot. Maybe too much. And stayed up too late. But it was good.

March 1
Yet another travel day, this time to Tampa. One more week after this and then we get a break before Worlds. So much traffic! I guess that’s what we get for traveling at 4pm on a Friday.

February 9
I’ve been worrying about our money situation for a few weeks now – everything is becoming astronomically more expensive by the minute. I had written off vacation plans and redecorating the kids’ rooms as impossible this year. But it turns out people at work are listening after all. Maybe we’ll make it yet.

February 5
Today was: A doctor’s appointment for the girls, a work presentation featuring a zombie, a panic attack right before cheer, and 32 years since Dad died. Pinot is peeing and pooping wherever he feels like it and I finished my jigsaw puzzle. An eventful Monday.

January 22
I did not do a good job of balancing things today. I ate almost entire box of chocolate chip cookies (I left three), a donut, three helpings of pasta, and a bunch of pizza rolls, all after 3pm. I used all my free time to do crossword puzzles, to the point that there are only three left in my book of 100. (Granted I did not do 97 in one day, but I’ve only been working through the book for three days.) We got a letter from the bank and our mortgage is almost doubling, thanks to our homeowners insurance being blocked out of the state and the new one costing three times more. Taking a picture to remember this day just seems so stupid. But I guess it’s a good enough starting point for something different. Again.

January 20
I spent a lot of time doing crossword puzzles today. Robin wants to sew another bag, so I took a break to cut more fabric and happened to catch the light on this hibiscus just before it was too late. The hibiscus has been putting on a show lately.

January 7
Robin got her first Shein delivery today, a sanctioned buy with her new debit card. The anticipation got her through her first cheer practice in weeks, and she wasn’t disappointed. The stuff she got is cute and she has 33 cents left to spend in her account. If there is a way to spend 33 cents, Robin will find it.

December 29
Didn’t do as much today as yesterday, and I decided that’s ok. I did prune my roses and catch this hibiscus in the sun. Christina and I also took apart the Lego pirate ship we built earlier this year so we can build one of the other 3-in-1 models in the kit. We watched a lot of football. I think sometimes it’s ok to be lazy and unproductive.

November 23
Billy made an awesome dinner, including one of the juiciest turkeys I’ve ever had. All in all a pretty good Thanksgiving. Could definitely have gone very differently this year, and I’m kind of glad it didn’t.

November 20
I finally finished weeding the garden. And the hibiscus is blooming! That’s about all I really got done today, which is slightly disappointing. My current vacation isn’t even over and I’m already counting down the days until my next vacation. There’s something wrong with that, right?

November 9
I went outside to check on Pinot in the backyard, because he likes to dig under the fence and disappear. He was sniffing around on the grass, so I lay down and looked at the sky a while. It was a really nice day, warm but not hot, sunny with a few clouds, not humid. I decided to pull a few weeds from the garden, which has really become overrun with them. I only intended to pull a few and go back inside, but after 20 minutes, I’d weeded half the garden. I cut my finger on something in the garden and I have dirt deep under my fingernails, but now I can see my flowers and they can breathe. There are still more weeds to pull, but it felt good to do something that means something. Something that yielded positive results. I feel like so much of what I’ve been doing lately has involved smashing my head into proverbial walls over and over and then being asked to do it again (but always with a thank you!). I’m tired. Beyond. But here is this rose that I found in the weeds. I think I have to work to find more roses.

October 11
It’s been kind of an average Wednesday, or at least as average as Wednesdays get. Talked to Rosina for a little bit. Did some online shopping in the dance studio parking lot. Feeling ready for bed.

October 6
Robin said she loves me very, very, very, very much today, which kind of makes up for my crappy day yesterday.
