I so wanted to stop and get a proper shot of this beautiful moonrise, but there was nowhere to pull over. I had to settle for this red-light photo instead. It was really beautiful. Dang the endless driving – although I’ll admit that without it, I’d have missed this view altogether. I guess sometimes you take what you can get. And I’m grateful for it.

September 10
The rain and change in school policy around picking kids up from the walker line ruined my afternoon. I ended up in car line, the kids ended up walking. We got home at the same time, minutes before it started pouring. I am not doing this ever again.

My mind is fighting with itself over unanswerable questions. I am at odds between what is in my heart and what is right. Who knew that one day at Fort Sumter would lead to this kind of inner conflict? I’ve gone from Ken Burns to Martin Luther King to Abraham Lincoln to Frederick Douglass. Soon I will go straight to God and see what He (or She) has to say. If I am not finding answers, I can absolutely say I am learning. And there’s nothing wrong with that.

July 2
We went into Charleston today and spent way more money than we should have. The weather eased a little and it was much cooler than the last few days. Robin traded her phone for a very expensive, very cute pair of shoes that brought big smiles to her face and happiness to my heart. Christina fished Robin’s pen out of the Edisto River and touched a branch in the water even though it had a spider on it. An action-packed day.
