I finally got to use the gift certificate Rosina gave me for my birthday. We did some paint pouring! Robin and Christina were less than thrilled about going, but there’s something about splashing paint around that lifts one’s spirits. They’ll never admit it, but they had fun.

I am struggling with a lot of things, but Robin had no struggles eating this cotton candy at her cheer party.

I had a good talk with Robin (well, to Robin, because she never really said anything other than a barely perceptible nod or shake of the head). I don’t know if it helped her, but I felt better knowing I’d gotten my point across. Now she can make her own decisions and understand exactly where she stands either way. And at practice, I saw her do three back handsprings with a spot. When she had to do one solo, she suddenly had to tie her shoes, but every little bit counts. Maybe this is not the end.

We finally managed to get out to get Robin the ice cream she earned from that epic practice over a week ago. Between our trip to New York and Robin’s strep throat, we just couldn’t make it happen. But it was worth the wait. She even recovered when I told her she has a practice on Sunday.

Celebrated my birthday with Dion at their house today. It was a nice day, though I didn’t expect so many people there. I do love them. And Robin loves their cat.

This is the reaction I got when I asked Robin to play Phase 10 with the rest of the family. Also today, she got her back handspring back after months of missing tumbling practice for various reasons. I love my teenager.

It was a pretty good day. I’m definitely digging the pool time. A highlight was homemade meatball heroes in front of the TV and angel food cake with Cool Whip and strawberries for dessert. It’s pretty amazing what good food can do for the soul.

The pool at the Y finally opened for the season, so I used my day off from work to go with the girls. Life calls for more pool days!

Father’s Day was a little bit of everything. More tie dye because I am crazy, food shopping, which included a checkout lane scramble to get ground beef for lunch, Harry Potter game that put Robin into the depths of despair, amazing french toast for dinner, and Robin Hood Men in Tights to top it off. If only the Yankees could have won too.

On a bit of a whim, we went to a Jumbo Shrimp game. They lost, but it was fun! The weather was surprisingly nice – not too hot at all, even with the sun in our faces for the first three innings. It was nice to have some family time.

Today was Christina’s end of year dance recital. Rosina and Dion came up to watch, which I appreciate so much. Now we have two whole days of rest before starting next season. The team sport life is really grueling.

Today’s big activity was tie dyeing, which came about because I felt Robin needed to tie dye the sock that came with her walking boot. It was fun, but we went through a LOT of dye, and I had to go back to the store for more. My hands may be blue for a while.

Today was an emotional day of birthday pool parties. The first one had an abrupt end accompanied by tears – both mine and Robin’s – and the second involved actual swimming, delicious cheeseburgers, and chocolate cake. Happy birthday Sydney and Rosina!

It was a busy day! Robin and I went to the beach and saw some dolphins out in the ocean (Robin spotted them, thinking they were sharks), and then we picked up Christina from a birthday party at Adventure Landing, and then we went to Robin’s end of year cheer banquet. It was nice! Robin even got a special leadership award, which was so cool. So proud of her.
