I completely forgot about Robin’s dentist appointment today. Billy asked me something about it right around the time I should already have had Robin in the car and been on the way. I ran out the door and made it to school in five minutes and they almost didn’t let me pick her up because dismissal was starting. I must have looked either desperate or pitiful, or maybe both, because she called for Robin anyway. We got stuck at a traffic light that wouldn’t change or else we would only have been about two minutes late. Which is impressive because I left the house 15 minutes before the appointment time. All that hustling was for nothing, though, because the dentist was 40 minutes late. Sigh. So much for my superpowers.

February 18
I saw a bumper sticker today that said, “Condoms prevent minivans.” It was on a minivan. Kind of made my day. Also this little tiny rainbow at the gas station. Lowlights included this morning’s dentist appointment, where Robin learned she has five cavities and seven others developing. If this doesn’t inspire her to start brushing her teeth, I have no hope.

Christina now has the flu. At least once she’s done with it, we’ll all be done with it. Sheesh. Work is still beating my butt, but I took this afternoon “off” (just canceled my meetings) and managed to mostly more or less catch up. I feel a little better tonight than I did yesterday. The soap on my office window seems to have helped. No birds flew into their own reflection today. That’s a relief. I guess that’s about it for today. Not too exciting.

September 21
Here I am in Sunrise, where I was greeted by a double rainbow in the parking lot of my hotel. There was a woman with a dog in her lap at the restaurant, and my new car averaged just over 41 miles per gallon on the way here. I couldn’t pick up my prescription before I left, and since it is a controlled substance, they couldn’t transfer it to a pharmacy here, so we’ll see how these next few days go without it. For now, I am going to bed. I’m exhausted. Tomorrow is going to be a long day.

January 11
We removed all traces of Christmas today, except for the outdoor lights. Usually by the time we put away the Christmas stuff I’m ready, but this year we did it later and I wished it could have lasted a little longer. Christmas just seems to have gone by in a flash. So far January just feels like Not Christmas. But I did finish making this pair of socks for Christina. Now Robin wants a pair.

I don’t know how Christina saw this rainbow. It was straight up in the air. Right after this, we got ice cream while Robin was at a cheer party. She had a lot of fun, which just makes me feel so good.

All day long I thought it was Monday. It’s definitely better thinking it’s Monday when it’s actually Friday than it is thinking it’s Friday when it’s actually Monday!

No sun yet, but here’s our rainbow! We could see the moon tonight, so who knows what tomorrow will bring?

January 31
Billy and I had a long, complicated conversation the other day about who was going to take Christina to dance on Wednesdays now that he’s not coaching in the afternoons. In the end everything stayed the same. Turns out that even though it’s inconvenient, I really like the 45 minutes I get to spend with Christina eating pizza in between classes. We don’t always talk about much, and sometimes we end up on devices, but it’s special time just for us and I didn’t want to give it up. And then after dinner, I get one on one time with Billy at home before he has to go pick her up. So it’s kind of a win-win.
