The big victory I had at work on Friday ended up being a big flop when the technology failed to cooperate. I’m back to where I was before, which is a “meh” option. Much less flashy and impressive, but technically gets the job done. Maybe I can find a way to dress it up somehow. Otherwise it’s day 2 of training. I successfully overwhelmed the entire class by trying to teach them six things at once this morning, but heard their feedback and pivoted in the second half to get us more or less back on track. I’m both teaching and learning as I go, which is an interesting combination. Tonight was class 4 of my NAMI class. I accidentally ended the class half an hour early without realizing it until 20 minutes after we rushed through the last bit and had already wrapped up. No one said anything, so either everyone else also forgot what time the class is supposed to end, or everyone was glad to finish early so purposely decided not to say anything. Either way, it was an oh well kind of moment. Now watching the Yankees game, but I think I’ll be heading to bed soon. I didn’t sleep well last night and I’m tired now. Nothing puts me to sleep faster than Dave Simms, so I should be in good shape.

April 13
Billy and I got married 18 years ago today. Christina had dance right at dinnertime (naturally), so we went out for lunch instead. Not the most romantic anniversary ever, but we’re not the best at romance. Or, I’ll just be blunt: Billy is not the best at romance. He thinks dirty socks and butter boxes sealed with Elmer’s glue make good wrapping paper. It was a nice lunch, though. We went to Canopy Road for brunch and we got a lot of things off our chest. Luckily we only complained about people other than each other. That to me is a very productive date. Who needs romance?

August 29
I had half a summer flex day to use at work today before losing it, so I packed up my paddleboard with the intention of going after my morning run. I left the gym and turned toward the creek to find THIS in front of me. Looking the other way was sunshine. I decided not to chance it, unsure whether I was wimping out or if it was a legitimate pass. Five minutes after I got home, it started raining. Glad I trusted my gut, but super annoyed I ended up wasting my day off from work to sit at home in the rain. I’ll keep trying.

Christina officially started her new dance season today. She’s already talking about next year and not doing team so she can do other things too. I don’t blame her. She’ll literally be dancing six days a week. But she loves her pre-pointe class, so that’s good.

June 25
I wasn’t sure what I was going to do all evening by myself, but the kids took care of that, spending 90 minutes on FaceTime with me after dinner. They all seem to be hanging in while I’m away.
