Billy and I got married 18 years ago today. Christina had dance right at dinnertime (naturally), so we went out for lunch instead. Not the most romantic anniversary ever, but we’re not the best at romance. Or, I’ll just be blunt: Billy is not the best at romance. He thinks dirty socks and butter boxes sealed with Elmer’s glue make good wrapping paper. It was a nice lunch, though. We went to Canopy Road for brunch and we got a lot of things off our chest. Luckily we only complained about people other than each other. That to me is a very productive date. Who needs romance?

I was having a decent day until I went to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription for Jackson that I dropped off yesterday only to find, after waiting in line for 15 minutes, that they had no record of the prescription at all. They lost it. So now I have to go back to the vet to get another copy of it, drop it off AGAIN, wait for them to (hopefully) fill it, then go back for a fourth time to (hopefully) pick it up. I am so angry. I shouldn’t let Walgreens ruin my day, but lately I have been letting little things get to me more than usual. I think it may be that I’m overtired or that I don’t have enough going on to balance out the bullshit, but it’s exhausting always being angry at everything. Especially since I can’t do anything about it. I need to go to sleep.

I was on the road and couldn’t fill out a bracket before the March Madness started, so I printed out paper ones for me and Billy before I looked at any scores. Billy had already seen some of the scores, so he got one freebie that I missed (really, High Point?), but otherwise we’re on even ground. I’m having fun looking up all the scores and marking up the brackets. I am a nerd. We were going to go to Sea World today, but Christina still isn’t feeling well. We did come to Orlando (which was a wall of traffic from start to finish, thank you, Florida), but I think we’re going to stay in. Hopefully Christina feels better tomorrow. If not, she’s going to have to find a bench to lie down on because we have to check out of the hotel at 11.

Made it to NJ in really great time. It’s so great to see Aunt Cathrine and Uncle Bob. We spent the afternoon and evening getting the grand tour and catching up on pretty much all the things. They seem so happy in their new place and I don’t blame them. This place is pretty awesome! They rented us the little guest apartment that is right next to theirs and it is really so very nice. I’m truly exhausted, though, and glad for some quiet time before going to bed. Tomorrow will be a long day – and hopefully not too wet. Please?

It was a pretty smooth drive to Virginia today, but oh so long and boring. It was nice to arrive before dinner time so we had time to relax a little before heading back out. I’m loving my new car, which welcomed us to every state we drove through and only needed 1 1/4 tanks of gas to go 500 miles. Not too shabby, little car.

I took the girls to the mall with their friends. Robin got to go alone and had an absolute great time. She didn’t want to leave, which makes me so happy. Christina also had a great time, but had to stick with me. I guess there are worse things. I was good and didn’t buy much, but I did need some things for an upcoming work trip, so came home and spent it all on Amazon. Oh well.

What a day. I am absolutely overwhelmed at work right now, literally spinning wheels in every possible direction at once. I got so caught up in trying to stay on top of things that I forgot about Robin’s tumbling class. We left 20 minutes late and then got stuck in a massive traffic snarl caused by a four-car crash closing down one lane on the road. She missed more than half the class. I came home with a headache, nausea, and general exhaustion. But Robin made dinner for us and it was delicious (chicken tikka masala), and then the Yankees came back to win a game in which they were no-hit for seven innings and down by five runs. So I suppose things somewhat even out in the end.

It’s embarrassing how infrequently we go to the beach when it is as close to us as it is. But we made it today for a record-setting hour and a half. Too much longer than that and the sand would have been scalding to walk back to the car on. Next time we go, I will have to suck it up and go earlier before the sun tries to murder my feet. It was so refreshing in the ocean. I kinda can’t wait to go back.

I set up three Apple Watches today. One for myself (my new one), one for Christina (my old one), and one for Robin, who had to unpair and reset hers since it wasn’t working right. There is something delicious about opening an Apple box. Even their packaging is well designed. Looking forward to tomorrow’s run.

Dance team assignments for next year were announced today. Christina is on the junior team again with an asterisk that means something which will be disclosed at a later date. (I have learned not to ask too many questions.) She was also awarded a small group dance (a trio) with her friend Gia and another girl, Chloe, who is new to the team. I’m sure Christina is excited, but by the time I had a chance to talk to her about it, she was engrossed in a game of Block Blast and the only responses I got were a series of grunts. Meanwhile, Robin had her last tumbling class at Brandon today. Although Gabby initially said the gym would be open through the summer, class registrations have not opened past next week, which was cancelled because the coach will be out of town. She has one more private lesson next week and then we will move on to a new gym. As for me… nothing nearly as exciting to report. I am knitting a new sweater. I worked. I had chicken caesar salad for dinner (thank you, Billy!). I had a crappy run on the treadmill, but saw pretty clouds in the Panera parking lot afterwards. And now I guess it’s time for bed.

Robin had a tumbling class tonight. She and her coach were the only two people in the building. I’m not sure the gym will last until the end of summer as planned. But she was so excited that she’s getting her back tuck. If it makes her happy, it makes me happy. Plus it’s cool to watch.

Christina and I got pedicures today. I also bought myself a bikini – the first one I have dared to buy in probably at least 20 years. Robin and Christina said it looks good on me, and they’re usually pretty quick to say when something doesn’t look good on me. We also went food shopping in like 45 minutes from the time we left to the time we put away the last item in the fridge. So it’s been a pretty good day.

Christina and I went to the park and played catch and I even went on the swings. The rest of the day was dedicated to the Harry Potter game. Sadly, the glasses and table runner I ordered for tomorrow were delayed and will not arrive in time. I’m so disappointed. Also I’m nervous about tomorrow’s 5k. Mostly I’m terrified of waking up at 5am. And then running for 20 minutes straight. At least it will be over before the day even starts!

Back to school today. Christina came home as bubbly as ever. Robin came home with a 103-degree fever. And so we begin.

Man, was I cranky today. I only spent ten minutes with my feet in the grass, but it might have been the best ten minutes of my day. Gotta try to make tomorrow better.
