We did our Christmas food shopping and Christmas baking today, and now there is officially nothing else to do until Christmas. And please god no more spending money. It is astonishing how much we spent on groceries. Dinner better be amazing on Christmas. At least the cookies are pretty good!

Today’s big activity was making these enormous s’mores cookies with Christina. They were incredibly time consuming to make, but they were delicious! Good pick!

Just another day. I screwed something up big at work, but I’m doing what I can to fix it. Robin had a pretty good tumbling practice, but she’s got a ways to go. Her new coach is fabulous and taking her back to basics. We got our butts kicked by the Harry Potter expansion game I got for my birthday, but not as bad as yesterday. I finished another advent calendar ornament and I like it. Lots of Olympics. Tired.

We have baked something like 250 cookies in the last two days, with one more recipe to go. I just ran out of steam for that last one. I don’t know who is going to eat said cookies… Santa? But even he has limits. We also baked three loaves of banana bread a few days ago and have one loaf left. Four human beings simply can’t consume all this, but I can’t stop myself from doing it. I enjoy it too much.

Robin got a cookbook filled with cookie recipes for Christmas, and from about three and a half minutes after opening it, couldn’t wait to make these cookies. We literally spent the whole day making them. It’s 10:30pm and I just plated them. They did not come out as intended. Turns out this was quite a complicated recipe for an 11-year-old, involving chocolate tempering, fluffing eggs, setting batter, and many, many overlapping steps. Even though they are not what they looked like in the book, it was Robin’s favorite part of the day, and she’s looking forward to eating hers for breakfast in the morning and trying this recipe again.
