Couldn’t get my sorry ass out of bed for my run this morning. Guess I’ll have to suck it up on Mother’s Day. Things are going well at work. Took Christina to dance, texted a little with Siggi, sat with Robin while she worked on her Ferrari, watched the Knicks game with Billy. I have to get up early for digging tomorrow, but it’s already 11pm. Where the hell does the time go?

April 13
Billy and I got married 18 years ago today. Christina had dance right at dinnertime (naturally), so we went out for lunch instead. Not the most romantic anniversary ever, but we’re not the best at romance. Or, I’ll just be blunt: Billy is not the best at romance. He thinks dirty socks and butter boxes sealed with Elmer’s glue make good wrapping paper. It was a nice lunch, though. We went to Canopy Road for brunch and we got a lot of things off our chest. Luckily we only complained about people other than each other. That to me is a very productive date. Who needs romance?

September 13
I didn’t intend to buy a car today, but I did anyway. It’s a nice car. It has air conditioning. But I am exhausted. Robin and I were there literally all day, and buying a car is stressful. Tomorrow I have a four-mile run planned. I am going to need to do something outside after that to balance out all the stress of the last couple weeks. I hope the weather cooperates with that plan.

June 18
It was a pretty good day. Robin worked out with me this morning, even though her feet hurt. Robin broke one of Billy’s mugs, which we made for him one Father’s Day when the kids were little, and she told him about it herself even though she was terrified to do it. She made up for it by baking a giant chocolate chip cookie. Made fish sticks for dinner before taking Christina to dance. Watched the Yankees lose ANOTHER game tonight. And now I’m ready for bed.

December 27
We’ve been enjoying all the games we got for Christmas this year. A particular favorite has been Uno No Mercy, which really is brutal, but enormously fun in its extremism. We have a bunch more games to try out, and luckily no classes or practices to get in the way for at least a week.

I wasn’t sure what I was going to do all evening by myself, but the kids took care of that, spending 90 minutes on FaceTime with me after dinner. They all seem to be hanging in while I’m away.

January 28
Robin and her team kicked butt at their competition. They looked absolutely amazing. For some reason they didn’t place as high as we expected – they got 6th out of 8. But they came out smiling and should be proud. The competition was really tough and they held their own. The afternoon was hectic, though, since awards were at 3 and tire shops closed at 5. First place I tried didn’t have any staff availability, second place didn’t have the size I needed. We just made it to the third place before they closed and luckily they were able to do it. I was really worried we’d have to stay another night. Then Olive Garden for dinner to celebrate and home by 8. Crazy weekend all around, but definitely could have been a lot worse, and the kids were amazing through it all.

Some Squishmallows were unintentionally cut out of this shot, but trust they were present at the time of shooting. They joined us on morning car line because Robin took Christina’s bouncy ball and wouldn’t give it back. Sometimes you make trade-offs.
