Today was the kids’ last day of school. Christina walked home wearing her bacon costume and got honked at a lot. We went out to eat to celebrate and then Robin asked to go to Barnes & Noble afterwards. We bought a few books. And by a few I mean too many. Luckily we have some long flights ahead of us, so maybe we can make a dent in the stack. I ended up skipping this evening’s race – a blue jean mile to benefit NAMI. I couldn’t bring myself to do it. It was 83 degrees, 91% humidity, and 50% chance of rain. It had actually just stopped raining when I would have had to leave. I feel like a wimp for backing out, but my regret is minimal. I donated a good amount of money, so it was not a total loss. I wonder how many people did show up. I’ll never know.

I’m feeling much better today than yesterday, although my hands and wrists are still very sore from gripping the wheelbarrow. Still, I’m very relieved and grateful that this part of my life seems to be mostly behind me. It’s not really an “If you can survive this, you can survive anything” kind of ordeal, but it was definitely a test of strength. Lord knows I have the willpower. I’m plugging away at work, trying to make the most of an unideal situation and prevent it from happening again. I think I am finally on the right track. I’m such a nerd that I want to work on it on my off hours. I’m enjoying the building process. However, despite everything else, I was beaten by today’s Saturday NYT puzzle. I mean, demolished. I can usually at least make a dent in it, but today it slaughtered me at my every move. I guess some days that’s just how it has to be.

I don’t have much to say about today. I worked, I ate dinner, I took Christina to dance, I watched the Olympics. Nothing really exciting happened during any of those activities. I guess some days are like that.

I stayed up past midnight to finish reading this book. I really liked it, a lot better than the other one I finished. I love the main character so much. Now I need something else to read.

There’s been a lot of going through the motions this week, and for a while now. Hoping my mojo comes back soon. This is exhausting.
