I might have quit therapy today. We also made delicious chicken tikka masala for dinner and I took a shower. I bowed out of the worship committee at church and I feel so relieved. Feeling generally out of it. I haven’t even been able to put my heart into complaining this week. Maybe I need more sleep.

Highlights: Christina lost a tooth, pizza night with the fam, baseball on TV (the Yankees won), and interesting work statistics to be shared at staff meetings.

Christina’s been working on creating a board game in math and she went the extra mile to make these custom game pieces for it. All their little eyeballs fell off in her lunchbox, so Mommy got a chance to use her glue gun tonight. And now I can say I had my part in her success.

The power has been off and on tonight in the rain, which is funny because we’ve lived in this house for 11 years, including through a few hurricanes, and the power has never more than flickered before. It was out for about 15 minutes at one point and Christina was flipping out. Telling her about the time I had to go five days without electricity OR running water during a snowstorm didn’t help the way I thought it would. But Mother’s Day roses by candlelight really are quite beautiful, especially paired with the sound of rain falling on the roof. It’s so nice that even though the power came back on 45 minutes ago, I’m still sitting here in the dark. It’s so easy to forget to be still.

This year we had Mother’s Day brunch out on the back patio with Colleen and her clan. Bagels and lox and mimosas, and Panera even threw in a box of coffee for nothing, which is crazy. So good, so peaceful. And I still have the whole day in front of me.

Billy and I started working on our murder mystery jigsaw puzzle and it is so fun. I’m a nerd. We also got to have hamburgers and hot dogs on the back patio and draw until the sun went down and it was perfect. I’ve gotten everything I asked for in life. Bonus was this photo-bombing lizard.

A day late, but we went out to celebrate Robin’s first back handspring ever! And we capped off the evening with a couple games of Sushi Go – and I both lost miserably and won a game. I also had an awesome lunch with friends from chorus – so all in all a pretty good day.

I don’t know if a screen shot of a video counts as a photo, but since this is my project, I say… it does! Robin got her standing back handspring today and it was so exciting. I actually cried a little. I am so proud of her!

May 8
The highlight of my day was realizing that Robin didn’t know what country she lives in and that she thinks the capitol of the US is Minneapolis. We took care of both those things and a few others over dinner while Christina was at dance and it was a lot of fun.

I finished untangling some epically tangled yarn today. I bought it like 8 years ago and never used it because it became so epically tangled. But I’m thinking it wants to be a bunny. Because one bunny is simply not enough.

Robin got a back handspring without a spot for the first time today! I don’t know how these things progress, but maybe she’ll have one in time for next year’s cheer tryouts? Or at least maybe she’ll be close. She’s got a few more weeks. She is so proud of herself, as well she should be!

And the bunny is finished. I had a lot of fun making her. Also today Robin and I went to a cheer team pool party and Christina and I cooked dinner together. Nice weekend.

Bunny is getting close. Her dress is about halfway done and then she’ll be ready to mail. Also today we met Rosina and Dion for dinner. It’s so nice to go out with friends.

I finished knitting my bunny. Now to stuff it and make its clothes. We’ve also been eating dinners outside, which makes me so happy. I can see flowers and grass, which was exactly my dream when I lived in the city. And we even had time for Billy to kick everyone’s ass at Ticket to Ride. All in all not a bad day.

Highlights in my day: Watching Robin work on her back handspring, weeding the gardens, worship team meeting, baked ziti, and of course bunny making. Not highlights: Work.
