Sometimes things hit me suddenly without warning or explanation. But I kept on knitting hats for Kindermarket.

Bought and put up our Christmas tree. The girls participated in the beginning but then lost interest, which kind of ruined it for me. Decorating the tree was always one of my favorite parts of Christmas, and it was always a thing we did together as a family. It makes me so sad that it doesn’t have the same meaning for our kids. I’m trying to make the most of it anyway.

I got this reminder a couple days ago that I signed up to make hats for the Kindermarket at school, and they were due yesterday. Oops. I’m on a mission to make as many hats as humanly possible by Monday. In two days I’ve made three. It’s something.

We have all the number candles except 3 and 5, and our 4 has been used so much, it no longer has any wick left, so we had to improvise. We put a zero in there for good luck. Hopefully Billy had a good birthday.

I’ve been doing more writing, trying to pursue a dream I’ve been neglecting, and it’s taking me into my parents’ childhood. I know so little about them, really, and I am making a lot of it up based on the little shreds of details I do know. It’s a strange feeling, constructing a life that you know was real, but knowing your construction really isn’t. Whatever happens after we die, I hope my parents understand my exploration and where it takes me, even if I deviate entirely from the truth. I’m hoping there’s enough there that’s right to do them justice.

Pinot FINALLY got a haircut today. What a relief for everyone. He hates the car but loves the sunset.

We spent two hours at Java Game Haus playing Exploding Kittens, Christina’s favorite game. Apparently it wore her out.

I started making progress on this today and then I ran out of thread. I think I almost bought it when I bought all the supplies for this project last year and then decided not to because I already had some. Little did I know I only had like five feet of thread on the spool. Oh well. I’ve got a whole year to prepare it for next year.

Thanksgiving is over, and Christina is full-on into Christmas mode. The countdown is on!

Billy made an awesome dinner, including one of the juiciest turkeys I’ve ever had. All in all a pretty good Thanksgiving. Could definitely have gone very differently this year, and I’m kind of glad it didn’t.

Robin made these beautiful cupcakes from scratch for tomorrow’s dinner, including the chocolate leaf decorations. They taste great, too. I’ll definitely visit her bakery.

We’re working on teaching Pinot how to roll over. He’s struggling a little with down, which is the cornerstone piece. He is completely unmotivated if food isn’t involved, which isn’t terribly surprising. But after a few days, I think he’s more or less got it. I think roll over will come quickly from here. Christina’s been enjoying doing it with me, and I like spending that time with her too. And Pinot, at a very minimum, enjoys the treats.

I finally finished weeding the garden. And the hibiscus is blooming! That’s about all I really got done today, which is slightly disappointing. My current vacation isn’t even over and I’m already counting down the days until my next vacation. There’s something wrong with that, right?
