I slept on the couch last night and Billy didn’t even notice. He was making so much noise in his sleep, I couldn’t fall asleep myself, so I went to the office and slept there. I guess I’m so still and quiet when I sleep that it’s just like not being there at all! We had a good laugh about it today.

November 11
The sky was so much prettier about five minutes before I took this photo, but I was stuck driving and couldn’t get a shot of it. Seems to be the way it goes in the life of a taxi driver.

All four of us got haircuts today, and they all look great! For some reason, Christina decided to brush all those beautiful curls out of her hair. She said she wanted to see if they’d stay. Turns out they did not. It was nice while it lasted!

November 9
We saw Robin’s first cheer performance of the season this morning. The team looks pretty good! We all left in a good mood, but for some reason I don’t know, by the time we got home, we were all grouchy. Believe it or not, I turned my mood around by going food shopping. And then I made a really great, really fancy meal of cider-glazed pork loin with sweet potatoes. It took forever to make, but it was so delicious, and fun to make. Altogether, not a bad day.

I was so exhausted all day long. I fell asleep during Christina’s dance class and simply couldn’t stay awake after dinner. I don’t know why I am so tired, but I am going to bed.

November 7
I took Christina out for ice cream tonight to thank her for cleaning out my car without even being asked. It was nice getting to spend some one on one time with her, even if it was just 20 minutes. The rest of the day was a marathon. They’re all marathons. I just can’t seem to keep up.

I actually took some time after everyone went to bed to do some writing. The outcome of this presidential election is baffling to me. There has to be some way of making sense of it. I think that no matter how much I write, I will never really figure it out. In thousands of years, we humans have gotten nowhere.

Today was one of those days. I’m doing my best to do the right thing. I don’t know if I succeeded 100% today, but I did at least try.

Mondays and Wednesdays are marathons. At least today was fairly productive. Got some bills paid and some papers off my desk. Such a small thing, but a huge weight lifted because it’s been sitting undone for weeks. Now, at last, bed.

Trying to keep vacation vibes going as long as I can. Being outside in nature fills me up in a way nothing else does. Time with myself is precious too. Spent the morning on the UNF trails. It’s been years since I was there and I didn’t remember how beautiful it was (in places… some spots were tedious and directly next to the highway). I need as much of this in my life as I can get.

I had plans to go to the park while Christina was at a birthday party, but changed my plans so Robin could come to the gym with me at that time instead. Well, Robin didn’t come to the gym with me and I didn’t go to the park. So now we have a picture of a clock. You’re welcome.

All day long I thought it was Monday. It’s definitely better thinking it’s Monday when it’s actually Friday than it is thinking it’s Friday when it’s actually Monday!

October 31
Robin kept removing pieces of her attire that got uncomfortable until we were almost home and then she got a briar stuck in her toe and I thought we might have to call an EMT to hold her down while I tried to remove it. Just a few tears shed. Christina punched out early when she had to pee and then she never came back. I think despite it all, everyone had fun. These were some of the most fun costumes we’ve ever done. And even I dressed up! I cannot even remember the last time I wore a costume for Halloween. High school, maybe? It was fun and we got a lot of compliments. And I am so relieved I don’t ever have to wear contacts ever again.

We got some incredibly nice feedback about Christina from her dean today. I’m proud of her. I am not as proud of the Yankees. But… they still have a couple innings and a slim lead, so maybe I should shut up. What else is new?

We went to the pumpkin patch tonight and Christina picked out at least three or four perfect pumpkins before settling on one. Robin found a dented one in the first three minutes we were there and didn’t even bother looking at others after that. Can’t wait to see what faces emerge from these guys in a couple days.
